Historique :	Il s'agit d'un exemple de production française de ce type de mise en oeuvre des reliques. La représentation de saint Léger en évêque est issue d'un atelier français (peut-être l'atelier de Talrich. On est en présence d'un mannequin, en tissu et en paille, dont les mains et la tête sont en cire, travaillée avec habileté. Le saint, allongé, est revêtu d'ornements sacerdotaux du XIXe siècle. Les reliques ont été données par Monseigneur Pi en 1849 puis una utre relique est arrivée en 1850, don de l'évêque de Soissons. Un contrat posé entre la fabrique et un menuisier pour la réalisation de l'autel destiné à recevoir la châsse est conservé et daté de 1849. Une urne contient les reliques. Elles ne sont donc pas contenues dans l'effigie de cire. Il reste un certain nombre d'exemples de ce type de production en France dont Sainte-Maure dans l'Aube et Sainte-Victoire dans la Mayenne ou la statue reliquaire de Saint Victorin en Picardie.
